Reparations, & City Dishonesty re Demands
6/29 Update!
Over the weekend we were able to visit Jena in Everett and meet her lovely partner and newborn. We sent her a $2500 reparations payment as well. Your donations are providing economic support for Black families. Jena will officially start with the Firm Thursday. We’re excited to have her. Her new laptop, purchased with donations, arrived today and training is a go. Jena has plans for school and work.
We’re still waiting on responses for the 3 writs. The Court of Appeals gave the State until August to respond. We’re exploring alternative avenues to challenge the courts.
Lastly, to support protesters, and other incarcerated community, we are developing a court watching position. The position will provide live feedback of the court’s actions in arraignment and bail hearings. Community having access to information is imperative to holding the system accountable.
In Re CHOP:
There has been a significant amount of action by Mayor Durkan, Chief Best, and compromised Community “leaders,” to undermine CHOP. To be clear, any “community leaders” who partner with police & the mayor are sacrificing the community for personal gains. The Mayor set up a meeting with individuals posing as Community leaders, then used their lack of knowledge and commitment to equity, abolition, and liberation, to claim the movement was not organized. Understand, there have been very clear demands in multiple places. See below for the links to those demands. Follow Nikkita Oliver on social media. New additions: Participatory Budget!

Again, these demands were brought to Mayor Durkan & Chief Best. They are very aware of who the actual community leaders are. Both Nikkita Oliver and Sherae Lascelles, both whom have run for office, Lascelles currently is running for office, are very well known to City officials. The City is deliberately spreading misinformation and attempting to weaponize Black cop apologists against community.
