Follow up on 7/4: Hearing with more detail
SPD wrote three inconsistent reports making false accusations about one person, a young Black father and CHOP supporter:
First report accused of eluding and property
Second report, assault of cop from imaginary KOMO Report
Third report, possession of a stolen vehicle
1st report
The invisible smoothie assault on a cop case:
Had a hearing today to see if Muni would file. They declined. State already declined. No charges. Hearings this afternoon and tomorrow for two other people, both at King County Jail. Only the report didn't list the alleged property or any identifying information for Person they claimed was a danger. Didn't even list a license plate. Got report 1 less than an hour before hearing. Mind you the hearings were already set over a day.
Then during the hearing media showed up. While waiting, going over report with Person, we saw a Guard bash an in-custody person's head into the metal door frame. We were both horrified. Go on record to address guard beating someone.
2nd report
This report alleges Assault on a cop from a KOMO News article from 7/1. It's been 2 days. They didn't send anything. Now they have a report from 3 days before? Still no mention of Alleged stolen property.
3rd report
Now 3rd separate charge. About to go on the record when Colleague, Talitha Hazelton, discovers community can't get into court. Open courts is a Constitutional Right. Person had 6-10 people waiting outside. Jail denied them. Told them to go to KCCH but KCSO guards said no.
Note: community ties is something court considers for release.
While getting people into vid court: 3rd report from SPD pops up, claiming Possession a Stolen Vehicle. This is a whole 4th charge. They still didn't ID the car or say how they knew Person knew it was stolen. No shaved key. Written day of hearing. $400 million dollar budget.
Then, no link to KOMO clip, no ID of Client. Woke him up. Pulled guns on him. Arrested him. No evidence. State asked $75k bail. Didn't seek Assault/Possession prop. CL had no criminal history. Court PRd but banned them from CHOP. The car was never stolen. Now, no charges pursued. Person was terrorized. Lied about. Had guns drawn and pointed at his head. Locked up. Traumatized seeing a guard bash someone's head into a door. Had to go to court. After decline SPD tried to get them to sign away rights. They still have his phone and wallet.
