Happy Juneteenth & Fathers' Day

After a beautiful Juneteenth Celebration a young Black man was murdered in Chop. A devastating reality.
There's an odd amount of silence around the facts of the shooting. This is the second attack with a shooting since the protests started. The first was by an individual whom had relatives as police. They rammed their car into protesters claiming to be afraid. Police were present in full riot gear, as they too were attacking protesters. It didn't prevent the shooting. The fact ambulances did not respond is devastating as well. Police arrived after the 2 wounded community were transported to the hospital. Community rallied to provide support. Ambulances didn't. The narrative around this will be spun to criticize CHOP because it's easy to attack something threatening the status quo. Every life matters. That's why policing must end. I have no doubt we'll see more random unprovoked violence. I have legitimate concerns as to where it is coming from. Proud Boys have already incited violence.

King County Courts are planning to ramp back up. Telephonic court needs to be a permanent option. Especially in light of the economic turmoil. Folks won't be able to skip work if they still have it. They also won't be able to pay the insane parking fees.

GoFundMe is still processing the release of funds. Group Health Foundation has made a generous contribution and we're hoping to have access next week.

The writs are still in the Court of Appeals.

We have begun working to develop the webpage to include resources and add the graphic content. Our mission is to seek out Black owned businesses, to pay reparations to those harmed during the protests as well as provide legal services where we can.

We will be organizing court watching as well. It's so important to have community eyes on government actors. Accountability means transparency. It means integrity.
